The AUT Transformational Technologies Research Network (TTRN) brings together affiliated research centres, researchers and partners whose work contributes to future-focused, interdisciplinary research. As a Tier 4 pan-university research network, TTRN helps connect expertise across AUT to support collaboration, capability-building and research impact in areas that matter to Aotearoa New Zealand.

AUT Artificial Intelligence
Research Centre
Contributes expertise in artificial intelligence and advanced data-driven technologies, strengthening TTRN’s research in emerging technologies, innovation and real-world impact.

AUT Computer and Information Sciences
Research Centre
Brings capability in computing, information systems and digital technologies, helping connect foundational digital research with wider transformational technology challenges.

AUT Mathematical Modelling and Analytics
Research Centre
Provides specialist expertise in modelling, optimisation, analytics and quantitative methods that underpin rigorous interdisciplinary research and evidence-based innovation.

Institute of Biomedical Technologies
IBTEC focuses on cutting-edge biomedical technologies, including bioengineering, medical devices, and health innovation. Its work strengthens TTRN’s capabilities in human-centred technology, digital health, and translational research that improve health outcomes.

AUT Virtual Creative Design Research Centre
VCD strives to empower creatives, technologists and academics by providing an environment for exploration and development in virtual creative design. Through its use of cutting-edge technology, interdisciplinary collaboration and meaningful industry partnerships, the centre works at the forefront of digital design and immersive media.
Affiliation with TTRN recognises centres whose expertise strengthens the network’s strategic research areas and broadens opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. It offers visibility across the wider AUT research ecosystem while allowing each affiliated centre to retain its own identity, leadership and areas of focus.
Through these affiliations, TTRN supports stronger connections between centres, faculties, researchers and external partners, helping build ambitious research programmes, collaborative funding opportunities and pathways to impact.
