Architecture of the Future Low Carbon, Resilient, Electrical Power System

Research in energy explores sustainable, reliable and cost-effective energy systems. Collaboration with New Zealand and international stakeholders connects academic research activities with industrial needs in the development of impactful innovation and low/zero-carbon technology.

This $13 million MBIE SSIP ATP MBIE-funded project involves integration and use of DC conveyance and power electronic converter interfaced technologies on all levels in the electricity system. From HV to LV, from household appliances like low energy LED lighting and computers, over electric vehicles and energy storage systems such a batteries and hydrogen to intermittent renewable generation such as wind and photovoltaic (see picture below).
